How =Method supports IEC63187: the new safety framework developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission for the defence sector.
In October 2024, Jeni Lewthwaite and Dil Wetherill from =Method hosted the 29th meeting for the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) TC65/SC65A/WG18, the purpose of which is to develop a new standard to support the demonstration of the safety of complex systems and defence products.
The group included discussion on system thinking from a system safety point of view, how to discuss system safety with systems engineering people and how to discuss systems engineering with system safety people. The group started to draft a plan to define more material to help understand the concepts of IEC 63187. The group also welcomed new members who will provide new points of view to help maturate IEC 63187.
